Just a quick plug for the upcoming POCIS conference happening on 4/27/12 at Athenian School in Danville. After a panel discussion “Is America Really Post-Racial? A Discussion on Race, Culture, and Leadership in the Obama Era,” the conference will break out into workshops, including one I’m facilitating for middle and high school educators, parents and guardians: “That’s Racist! Talking to Adolescents and Teens about what is (and isn’t) really racist.”
Concurrent workshops include: Our Family Coalition: How to make welcoming schools, A Better Chance: What we have learned from placing 13,000 students of color in 300 schools in the past 50 years, Cultural Resilience and Critical Leadership Skills, Besieged: Best Practices & How to Incorporate Students Who Have Affinity with Islam and the Middle East, and Re-Design the Colorblind blind: A Design Thinking Workshop.
